Crockpot Split Pea Soup

This is one of my favorite soups – it’s easy to make and is budget friendly.


2 lbs of dried split peas
3 carrots chopped
2 celery stalks chopped
1 yellow onion chopped
2-3 cloves of garlic minced
3 sprigs of rosemary minced
8 cups chicken/vegetable stock or water
salt and pepper to  taste
Optional – add diced ham/bacon
Combine all ingredients in slow cooker and stir. Set slow cooker to high for 8+ hours.  I try to check on the soup after 4 hours, sometimes I find I need to add more water/stock. When ready to serve, stir well, I sometimes use my immersion blender to puree the mixture.
